Blizzard is introducing a major upgrade to Diablo 4's War Plans system in Season 16, giving players more control over their endgame activities and rewards. The new meta-progression system, called War Plans Tactics, allows players to invest points into a tactics tree to make certain activities more likely to appear and specific types of rewards will drop. Players can also reroll their War Plans more often using a new currency called Marks of Wisdom, which will cap at 20.
The upgrade includes the ability to assign up to three points into each endgame activity and up to three points into different types of rewards. Players can also choose to increase the chances for Greater Helltides and Escalation Nightmare dungeons by putting at least one point into Helltides or Nightmare dungeons. Additionally, a new seasonal War Plans tree, Tyrael's Boons, will be introduced with four paths to invest points into, each with six nodes to choose from.
The changes to War Plans are part of Season 16, which will be playable on the public test realm from October 27 to November 3, and will launch on December 1. The season will also introduce a new type of gear, Horadric legendaries, which will synergize with specific Talisman charms. Diablo 4 will not be getting additional expansions, but will receive a new class, the Amazon, in the first half of next year. Diablo 5 is slated to arrive in 2029 with more classes than any previous Diablo game.
