Arrowhead Game Studios' CCO Johan Pilestedt stated that the studio is not planning to release a new Helldivers game anytime soon, with 95% of the team still working on Helldivers 2 updates and a small team prototyping the next game, which may not necessarily be Helldivers 3.
The studio's priority is to nurture the existing Helldivers 2 player base, with Pilestedt noting that a sequel would reset everything and force players to start over, whereas a continuation turns the game into a lifelong hobby, like Lego or Warhammer.
