Sucker Punch, the developer behind Ghost of Yotei, has laid off 26 employees, roughly 13% of its 200-strong workforce, citing challenges in the market and changes in the scope of its next project. The layoffs come just weeks after the release of Ghost of Yotei's DLC and Complete Edition on PS5. The studio's leadership assured affected colleagues that they will discuss the plans for the studio's future next week, but the details of the next project remain unclear.
Some fans are calling for a return to Infamous or Sly Cooper, while others want more games in the Ghost series. The layoffs also coincide with a tumultuous time for PlayStation, which is shifting to an all-digital future starting in 2028 and has recently shuttered Bluepoint studio.
