Konami deliberately kept its multiple Silent Hill games secret from each studio, according to Silent Hill Townfall director Jon McKellan. He stated that his team wasn't made aware of what was going on with the other Silent Hill games in development, and only found out when they were announced. McKellan claimed that even after the games were announced, Konami made an effort not to show each Silent Hill team how the others were doing.
The series producer, Okamoto-san, wanted to avoid projects influencing each other and compromising too much. He would review all the games and step in if he saw something too similar, but wouldn't tell the teams what it was. Instead, he would just suggest they veer off in a different direction. This approach allowed each game to remain separate and gave the Townfall team creative freedom.
The team was only asked to pivot once, on a visual design, and it was reassuring to know that Konami was monitoring the projects and would let them know if they were on the wrong path.
