A trailer for the canceled next entry in the Mass Effect series has leaked online, reportedly showing in-engine footage using pre-production assets. The leak comes after Electronic Arts announced it will close Mass Effect series developer BioWare and cancel the next Mass Effect game, which was in “early development.” The game was first announced in November 2020, with a teaser trailer debuting at The Game Awards 2020 that December. An alleged Electronic Arts employee posted on Reddit that a trailer for the new Mass Effect had been ready for “a few months,” which was corroborated by IGN. The authenticity of the trailer has not been confirmed by Electronic Arts, but a tweet from The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley suggests it is genuine. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has stated, “this is a real trailer of the Mass Effect game that BioWare was developing up until its closure yesterday.”
