Sony-owned studio Sucker Punch Productions is reportedly cutting 24 jobs in another round of layoffs in the games industry. The studio behind Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei has lost at least 10% of its employees, with a staff estimated to be between 190 and 230. The layoffs come after the studio's latest release, the critically acclaimed Echoes of Sekigahara expansion for Ghost of Yotei, which brought back the first game's protagonist, Jin Sakai.

The studio's previous releases, including Ghost of Tsushima, have been critical and commercial hits, with the game selling over 8 million lifetime copies as of 2022. The layoffs are not the first time Sucker Punch has undergone job cuts after a successful release, with an unspecified number of layoffs occurring in 2014 following the launch of Infamous Second Son.

The studio's leadership has stated that the decision was made after carefully observing market challenges and reviewing team needs for their next project.
