UK developer and publisher Thalamus Digital Publishing Ltd announced the upcoming launch of ZERO, a high-speed, adrenaline-fueled futuristic racer for the Game Boy Color. Developed by Canadian indie studio Rocketship Park, ZERO pays homage to the “Mode 7” racing games popular on consoles such as the SNES. The game features three different cup challenges and nine distinct tracks, with fast, intense, and high-stakes action. ZERO will launch on November 5th, 2026 on the itch.io platform.

ZERO's developer, Shane McCafferty, expressed his desire to push the Game Boy Color to an approximation of Mode 7, stating that the real fun was turning that into something that feels thrilling and fun to play. Thalamus founder and CEO Andy Roberts praised Rocketship Park's legacy of Game Boy racing games, saying that ZERO takes everything learned on titles like Nitro and Hero GP and elevates the genre to new heights and speeds.
