Nintendo has announced that Pokemon Unite will shut down on March 23, 2027, just days after the Aeos Crown 2027 tournament. The game's premium in-game currency, Aeos Gems, is no longer for sale. The Pokemon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group expressed gratitude to players who have played since the Nintendo Switch version's release on July 21, 2021.

Players can download a Library update to view career progress and stats, and play practice rounds. Pokemon Unite failed to gain traction like other Pokemon spin-offs, and its eventual shutdown was anticipated by fans. The release of Pokemon Champions earlier this year may have sealed the game's fate. Pokemon Unite will join other Nintendo mobile games that have been discontinued, such as Mario Kart Tour.

A new Pokemon game, Pokemon Winds and Waves, is set to be released, marking the longest wait yet between mainline entries in the series.
