GOG is celebrating its milestone birthday by announcing a range of surprises including a touch up of the classic violent motorbike racing game Road Rash and a publishing arm focused on new games with a classic soul. The company has made over 1,700 fixes to old games in its preservation program, with the latest game to benefit from this being Nox, the action RPG developed and published by Westwood Studios and EA back in 2000. Marcin Paczynski, senior business development manager, said that the company digs deep into the code, fixing long-lasting bugs, adjusting screen resolutions, adding controller support, missing cutscenes and much more.
GOG has also announced Retro Vibe, a publishing arm that will release new games with a classic soul. The lineup includes a VHS-fuzzed FPS with Max Payne-esque bullet time called Cop Bastard, a side-scrolling shooter with tough boss battles called The Looter, and the mysterious greyscale indie game After Hell Freezes Over. In addition, GOG is introducing GOG Social, a new gaming forum integrated with your game library, and GOG Galaxy is coming to Linux with new customization and personalization options.
