Corpus et Spiritus, a new alchemy-based roguelite deckbuilder from Arpentor Studio and Firesquid, has launched on Steam today. Players take on the role of an alchemist who signs a pact with a demon to increase their magic skills and create the Philosopher's Stone. The game combines roguelite mechanics with crafting and alchemy, allowing players to gather rare metals to craft cards and magical talismans at their workbench.
The goal is to build the perfect deck and break free of the pact before being killed by the Homunculus. The game features controlled randomness, experimentation, and resource management, with players able to customize their pact and unlock new alchemy stations and secret cards. The game has 7 different families of cards, each with its own gameplay style, and allows players to assemble powerful combos and manage their resources to achieve success.
Arpentor Studio, a workers-owned company based in Lyon, France, has developed the game, which aims to create a thought-provoking and educational experience for players. Firesquid, an indie game publisher, has partnered with Arpentor Studio to bring the game to market.
