TKG, a small Japanese game studio, has released a Steam store page for Hanafuda Solitaire, a puzzle game built on new rules for playing Hanafuda, the traditional Japanese flower cards, on your own. The game launches in December 2026 on Steam, iOS, and Android, priced at US$6.99 on Steam and US$4.99 on mobile, with no in-game purchases. All 48 cards are dealt face up into 6 columns of 8, and players capture pairs and form yaku as in Hanafuda, but with new rules to solve the board like a solitaire. Every deal is solvable, with just under 1% of random deals being unwinnable, and the game features familiar yaku and a Master Mode with a 10-point target. A free browser demo is available to the press ahead of time, and review keys for the full game are available on request once ready. TKG aims to create games with simple rules and new discoveries every time you play, like a bowl of tamago kake gohan, a traditional Japanese dish.
