BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk has spoken out about the closure of the studio, which saw 50 jobs lost as part of 400 cuts across the company, along with the cancellation of Mass Effect 5, also known as Mass Effect: Universe. Zeschuk expressed a mix of emotions about the closure, stating he had already gone through his emotional goodbye to the studio after departing it in 2012.

He is now focused on his own business, a successful beer brewing venture. Zeschuk believes the closure of BioWare is sad, particularly for the city of Edmonton, where the studio was a beacon of hope and excitement. He attributes the closure to the Saudi Public Investment Fund's private buyout of EA, which he believes led to the studio's demise.

Zeschuk also expressed his concerns about executives without game-development experience owning and running game development studios, stating that they do not understand the process of creating games.
