A new report claims that the release of GTA 6 has led to a 17% increase in time-off requests, according to data from HR software company BambooHR. This spike occurred on November 19, compared to normal requests for the third Thursday in November. Economists estimate a $1 billion loss in productivity in the United States due to the game's release.
The high level of anticipation for GTA 6 is expected to make it one of the biggest entertainment launches of all time. Rockstar has been spending a lot of money on marketing, including a massive neon pink sign on the Miami Heat's arena and in-universe ads for brands in the game. Fans can even eat at a real-life version of Burger Shot, a fast food chain in the GTA universe, if they live in Miami.
GTA 6 will release on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC port rumored for early 2027.
