Nintendo's Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been released, and critics have praised it for its faithfulness to the original game. The game's return is a momentous occasion for those who grew up with the Nintendo 64 original, but it may not be immediately clear to younger players why it's such a big deal.
The game's influence on the medium is often compared to The Beatles' impact on music, with some players wondering what the fuss is about because it doesn't sound massively different to other games. However, Ocarina of Time was a groundbreaking game that provided an experience that wrote the rulebook for 3D action-adventure games.
