CD Projekt Red is set to release the third expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled Songs of the Past, in 2027. The expansion will introduce a new region to explore, new monsters to hunt, and more stories to tell. IGN spoke to CD Projekt Red's level design lead Miles Tost and Songs of the Past writer Paula Meissner about creating a distinct new corner of the Continent.
The new region, Lettin, will have its own cultural backdrop, with influences from British and Polish cultures. The people of Lettin will have their own unique alcohol, Bracket, which is a fusion of honey and beer. This will affect how monsters behave in the area, with the introduction of the Swarmion, a monster that loves honey and uses hornets as a means of protection. The expansion will also explore the challenges of expanding on a game with a deep and established lore, with the team working closely with the lore team to ensure that the story stays true to the franchise's canon.
