Remix, a game-making platform used by about 1.5 million players and creators, has launched its desktop app for Windows, Mac and Linux. The app allows creators to build games on the desktop, on the Remix website or in the native iOS and Android apps, with no coding experience required. The platform's AI tools write code that instantly brings a creator’s vision to life, and creators own what they make, so they can export their code and take a game anywhere to monetize it. The desktop app gives creators room for bigger ideas, including longer adventures, deeper puzzles and worlds built for groups of friends. Creators can now build on a phone, in a browser or on the desktop app, and make something deep enough that people keep coming back to it, wherever they play. The launch is accompanied by the registration for The Missing Bitcoin, a skill-based scavenger hunt with a grand prize of 1 Bitcoin (or cash equivalent). The hunt takes place inside portals built with the same tools every Remix creator uses, so players get a first look at what they could make themselves while they compete. Players earn coins by finishing daily challenges, and each coin marks an achievement, and every coin a player earns goes toward a single hunt balance. The first player to collect all hunt coins wins 1 BTC (or its cash equivalent). If no player collects all the coins, the player with the most coins wins. The hunt’s total prize pool is more than $100,000. The players who finish 2nd through 10th also win prizes, and players can win by bringing friends, too: if a player refers a friend who goes on to win the contest, the referrer wins ½ BTC (or its cash equivalent).
