Kakao Games and Chrono Studio have released new gameplay from Chrono Odyssey, an open-world action MMORPG coming to PC and console. The footage is a single, unedited attempt at a solo encounter against Miragin, a Chrono Gate boss never before seen in the game. It is the first new look at Chrono Odyssey in months, but it will not be the last.
The gameplay showcases strategic combat using two key Chronotector movements, Replicate and Isolation, and introduces Paladin, a new class that wields a long spear and shield. The class is able to wield chained attacks with the spear, as well as a skill that summons a massive spear to deal damage to the boss. It also highlights Paladin using its shield to block incoming attacks and mitigate damage.
The gameplay also demonstrates how players can use Replicate to temporarily recreate the combat skills of bosses they have previously defeated to attack their enemies, while Isolation freezes an enemy in time for a limited period, restricting its movement. This highlights the strategic possibilities of time manipulation in combat.
The video was captured from the current development build, and content may change before release. According to Kwon, Executive Producer, Chrono Studio, the team wanted to come back with the game, not just another trailer. They felt that Chrono Gates are where Chrono Odyssey asks the most of you, so it felt right to let one fight speak for where they are. Development is moving forward, and players can wishlist Chrono Odyssey on Steam and follow the official channels to be first to hear more about the game in the months ahead.
