The National Institute of Fine Arts in Tétouan (INBA) will host the first international colloquium on video games as a form of artistic expression on November 10 and 11, 2026. The event, titled “Hack the Game: Game Art, Subversive Practices and Videogame Imaginaries,” will explore the intersection of video games and art, with a focus on Moroccan and Mediterranean contexts.

The colloquium will feature keynote lectures, panels, and an exhibition showcasing artworks that use video games as material and framework for creation. The event is organized jointly with Université Paris 8 and in partnership with the École supérieure d’art d’Aix-en-Provence (ESAAix).

The exhibition accompanying the colloquium will feature films, games, interactive installations, and virtual reality experiences, including works by artists such as Mélanie Courtinat, Isabelle Arvers, and Marta Shilova. The artworks on display will explore themes such as decolonial imaginaries, the military’s instrumentalisation of video games, and the creative interpretation and promotion of Moroccan heritage. The exhibition will be open on November 9 and 11, 2026, at the Al-Fakhar Gallery, INBA, with visiting hours on November 10 and 11, 2026, at 2 and 6 p.m. The colloquium will take place on November 10 and 11, 2026, at the INBA Auditorium, Avenue Mohammed V, Tétouan, with free admission to both the colloquium and the exhibition.
