Mob Entertainment has laid off almost the entire team working on the online survival co-op game Escape From Playtime, according to a former lead game designer’s LinkedIn post on November 4, 2026. The game was released just two weeks prior on October 21, 2026, based on the horror mascot Poppy Playtime franchise. The laid-off team members were responsible for creating the game where teams play as Smiling Critters plushes, scavenging for resources and avoiding monstrous mascot monsters.

The news sparked worry about the game’s future, but Mob Entertainment has confirmed that development will continue. The community manager, Tyler Scott Sanchez, stated that several improvements are planned based on players’ feedback, including changes to matchmaking and the game’s map. The studio is committed to transparency and will continue to communicate the development process with the community.
