The new filter removes any game with a generative AI disclosure from search results, following Itch's mandate that games containing AI content carry the disclosure explaining exactly how AI was used in development. This move comes after Steam's similar mandate proved problematic during the recent Steam Next Fest, as many developers complained about their titles being drowned by AI-generated games. Itch's community has received the new feature mostly well, but some wish for an outright ban on AI-generated games, which presents logistical issues in defining what constitutes an 'AI game'.
