The game is a self-contained psychological horror experience that lasts between 30 to 60 minutes long and has no save system, requiring players to complete it in one sitting. The game's developer, Brian Clarke, stated that releasing Playable Archive is a form of personal healing and a way to honor the project's memory after it was left unfinished. Clarke hopes that players will have fun with the game as he moves on to new projects.
