A report from MP1st claims that Days Gone developer Bend Studio's next game will be revealed and released in 2027, with the game being much further along in development than some may think. The game will not be a sequel to Days Gone, but will feature co-op play in a third-person perspective and will not be a live service game.
This news comes after significant layoffs at Bend Studio in 2025, with almost a third of its workforce reduced. The studio's latest game, Days Gone, was released in 2019 to mixed reviews, but developed a cult following. The game's writer and director, John Garvin, left Bend in 2020 and made comments about the game's critical reception, which were later distanced by the studio.
Bend Studio is said to be working on a new IP, building on the deep open-world systems developed with Days Gone, as confirmed by Sony in 2021.
