Young people at HELM, a Dundee youth charity, are calling on the city to help them build Dundee's first gaming museum through a Crowdfunder campaign that goes live on Friday 6 November and runs until 4pm on Friday 18 December. The campaign aims to raise £16,000, with every pledge up to £250 being matched pound for pound by Creative Scotland.

The idea for the museum came from a conversation at HELM, where young people discussed Dundee's rich gaming history, including the creation of Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto. The city has a strong games industry, with companies like Denki, Rockstar Dundee, and Abertay University's world-famous games courses, but there is currently nowhere to find the story of this industry.

The museum would help to explore this valuable piece of local social history and provide a fun and exciting experience for visitors. The young people at HELM will lead the project, creating artwork and collecting games, hardware, and memorabilia. They will also work alongside artists and industry experts, be paid for their time, and build something the whole city can be proud of.

Pledges start at £10, and every pledge up to £250 is doubled, with the campaign needing at least 25 supporters to unlock the match. The museum would be a great way to showcase Dundee's gaming heritage and inspire the next generation of game developers.
