10/10 - RESIDENT EVIL REQUIEM REVIEW - Thanks capcom for the game! <3 (PC Ver)
What's up, drewgaming fam! Drew here. Before we get into it, I just want to give a massive shoutout to all 1 million of you—hitting that milestone is still blowing my mind, and I couldn't do this without you! 🏆
Now, let's talk about Capcom. They've been on an absolute hot streak lately, and their brand new title, Resident Evil Requiem, proves they still know exactly what they're doing. I just rolled the credits on the review copy Capcom sent over, and here is everything you need to know! 🧟♂️🔦
🎮 The Ultimate Mash-up
If I had to describe Requiem in one sentence: it is the perfect blend of the RE2 and RE4 Remakes. You alternate playing between two protagonists with totally different playstyles: Grace (an FBI agent) and our boy Leon S. Kennedy.
🔦 Grace: Pure Survival Horror
Grace's sections will make RE2 Remake fans feel right at home. You're navigating dark environments (you can actually choose to play in 1st or 3rd person!), solving puzzles, managing a very limited inventory, and running from a terrifying immortal stalker. She even has a wild new mechanic where you harvest enemy blood to craft resources like ammo. It's tense, slow-paced, and incredibly atmospheric.
💥 Leon: All-Out Action
Then you have Leon, bringing that pure RE4 energy. You have a massive inventory, tons of firepower, and an axe you can use to parry attacks and execute enemies. The only slight downside? Since you're fighting regular zombies instead of Ganados, they act like bullet sponges. It's much harder to get those satisfying headshot-into-melee-kick combos we loved in RE4. Also, Leon later gets a system where kills give you points to buy upgrades from a computer terminal, which is super addictive!
📖 The Story & The Flaws
The plot follows the duo investigating the murders of Raccoon City survivors and facing off against a mysterious new villain named Victor. Honestly, the story is a bit of a mixed bag—some moments are great, while others fall flat.
My biggest gripe, however, is the lack of extra modes. The campaign is a solid 11 to 14 hours, powered by the always-gorgeous RE Engine with incredible 3D audio, but once it's over, there aren't any bonus modes (like Mercenaries) at launch to keep you playing.
🏆 VERDICT: 9/10 🔥
Even with a bittersweet story and missing extra modes, the gameplay loop is just too good. The way it masterfully balances Grace's terrifying survival horror with Leon's high-octane action makes this a must-play, especially if you loved the recent remakes. (If you're new to the series, I highly recommend playing the RE2 Remake first so you catch all the references!)
(Available on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC!)
Are you guys picking this one up? Who are you more excited to play as, Grace or Leon? Let me know down in the comments! 👇
