THANKS FOR THE GAME <3 INVINCIBLE VS REVIEW 4.5/10
Invincible VS: A Bloody Good Time or a Roster Letdown?
Hey everyone, Drew here! Invincible has finally stepped into the fighting game ring with Invincible VS. Developed by Quarter Up—a studio packed with ex-Killer Instinct devs—this 3v3 tag fighter absolutely nails the brutal vibe of the Amazon Prime series. After putting in some serious hours, here is the rapid-fire review.
🥊 The Combat
The game uses simplified inputs (think Smash Bros or Street Fighter 6 Modern controls), which makes it super easy to jump into. But don't let that fool you; the combo system is incredibly deep. It relies heavily on mind games, tight tag-team extensions, and complex KI-style "Combo Breakers." You can definitely mash buttons if you're a casual fan, but you won't survive long in the online rollback lobbies without hitting the lab.
🩸 The Presentation
It looks and sounds fantastic. We've got the original voice cast bringing the characters to life, and they didn't hold back on the violence. Landing a Super as the final move of the match will literally obliterate your opponent. The animations might feel a bit stiff at first glance, but once you get into high-level play, everything flows seamlessly.
📉 The Flaws
The biggest issue right now is the roster. Launching a 3v3 tag fighter with only 18 characters means you're going to see the exact same team comps over and over again. Four DLC characters are on the way, but a game like this really needs a roster of 25 to 40 fighters to keep things fresh. Additionally, the original Story Mode feels like a cool bonus episode of the show, but you can easily beat it in under an hour.
🏆 The Verdict
Invincible VS is a surprisingly complex and satisfying fighting game hiding behind accessible controls. It demands practice and dedication to truly master, but the small roster holds it back from perfection.
What do you guys think? Are you picking this up, or waiting for more characters to drop? Let me know in the comments!
